Golden Gate Bliss: Scenic Spots for Your Wedding Photos

If you're getting married at San Francisco City Hall and want more wedding pictures with the equally iconic Golden Gate Bridge, here are some locations that pair well with our beautiful vintage wedding venue. You'll want a three or four-hour package so you can have a relaxed session and fully enjoy the photography experience. Please email us if you have more questions about any of the locations, we'd love to tell you more.

Crissy Field Beach

This is the easiest beach to access and take wedding pictures at. You'll take seventeen minutes to drive to this location after you finish your San Francisco City Hall wedding. There's easy parking and a short walk to this beautiful little crescent-shaped beach close to the Golden Gate Bridge inside of the less windy inner bay area. There are restrooms and a snack bar. You can change into a second outfit at this location. This spot is perfect if you have your dog present on your wedding day. It features bluffs, flowers, tall grasses. as well as a cute pier to use for posing with a cityscape view if you turn away from the bridge.

Battery East

This is a fun little hidden gem! A small area run by the National Park Service, there is ample parking and several scenic walks with views of the Golden Gate Bridge from the same level as the bridge span that cars travel on. It's a short drive up the hill from the Crissy Field Beach location and pairs nicely with it.

Marshall Beach

If you are an adventurous couple, then Marshall Beach could be a dream location for you. The half-mile hike down to sea level requires sneakers and is not appropriate for those with mobility issues. You'll want to make sure the tide is low or going out during your session so that you can engage with the stunning rock formations that are underwater at high tide. There are several observation points for higher-up views of the Golden Gate Bridge that are lovely, as you're on your way down to the beach. This is one of the prettiest beaches, it just takes a little planning. We suggest sunset as you can avoid the nude sunbathers at this location on warm days:)

Hawk Hill

As you drive across the Golden Gate Bridge and up to the Marin Headlands, the highest vantage point is Hawk Hill. And yes, you can see beautiful hawks wheeling in the currents overhead. Native American lore says that they are good luck on your wedding day. You can have your elopement or small wedding ceremony at this location if you'd like. There is plenty of parking on the way up, no restrooms, and stairs on the way up. Take this into consideration if you have guests with mobility issues. Most folks can make it up if they are able to climb a flight of stairs and a little incline. Once you've made the short walk up to the top of the hill, you'll be treated to a breathtaking view of the San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean. Tall grasses, rolling hills, and cement structures give plenty of inspiration for engagement or couples photography.

Kirby Cove

This is one of the most darling spots on my list! There is a steep walk down on a paved roadway from where you'll park your car. Sneakers are advised until you get down below. The view of the bridge from sea level is Jaw Dropping as the bridge looms over you, oh so close. An excellent spot for surprise proposals, elopement picnics, and engagement sessions, I recommend this beach. You can even make a camping reservation and drive your car down. There are large clusters of white calla lilies, hidden meadows, and flowering plants eveywhere. There are only a few spots each day, so you'll want to reach out to the National Park Service. There are no restrooms at this location.

Battery Spencer

I saved the most popular for last. Battery Spencer is located at the end of the scenic loop, and is a one-way road that stops at many allowed viewpoints along the circular drive. There is a large fence with "love locks" just like the ones they have in Paris, on the bridges over the Seine River. It can be windy or atmospheric, but it's always beautiful and unique. It's the closest you'll get to the spans of this magnificent bridge. If you have a three-hour package, and you're getting married at San Francisco City Hall first, we'd suggest adding a half hour of wedding photography to your package to include drive time. Once you get up to the headlands, you will not want to rush. You may elope and have your wedding ceremony at this location. Easy parking and a short walk from your car.
